Women of Letters is the perfect alchemy of literary art-party and storytelling”

Amanda Palmer

An intimate evening celebrating the power of the pen

In a world of texting and tweeting - the short and the swift - a carefully composed letter has more value than ever. In homage to this most civilised of activities, Women of Letters was born.

The concept behind this monthly literary afternoon is simple: a panel of brilliant female writers, artists and activists each pen a letter on a chosen subject and then read it to a group of listeners. Join curators Marieke Hardy and Angie Hart and our very special guests for a one-night-only Women of Letters. Bring your own notepad in case you're inspired to start scribbling afterwards.

More about Women of Letters...

Literary phenomenon Women of Letters has been touring to sell-out audiences across the globe since its birth in 2010. Paying homage to the lost art of letter writing, it invites renowned artists, writers, performers and entertainers to write a 'letter to a theme'. Previous guests have included Helen Garner, Edie Falco, Ita Buttrose, Martha Wainwright, Penny Wong, Annabel Crabb, Alannah Hill, Virginia Gay, and many more. The event has spawned an international array of shows and guests, touring not only through the US, UK and Ireland, but also Indonesia and New Zealand. Its monthly Melbourne iteration now has a 'sister' event in New York City at Joe's Pub.
